Surgical — Open & Closed Approaches

Primary
Rhinoplasty

What is
Primary Rhinoplasty?

Primary rhinoplasty is nose surgery performed for the first time — whether to refine the shape, improve nasal function, or achieve better harmony between the nose and the rest of the face. At The Face Institute, every rhinoplasty begins with a deep understanding of your facial anatomy, your aesthetic goals, and the delicate balance that defines facial beauty.

We offer both open and endonasal (closed) approaches, selecting the technique based on the complexity of each case and the individual anatomy of the patient.

Our philosophy is clear: the goal of rhinoplasty is not to create a standard nose — it is to create the right nose for your face. Natural, balanced, and uniquely yours.

Why Choose This
Procedure

Rhinoplasty is one of the most technique-sensitive procedures in facial surgery. Performed by a specialist, the results are transformative — refined, balanced, and permanent.

01

Tailored to Your Face

Every nose is unique. We design results based on your individual facial anatomy, proportions, and aesthetic goals — never a template or trend-driven shape.

02

Permanent Results

Rhinoplasty reshapes the structural framework of the nose — cartilage and bone. The results are permanent and only continue to refine naturally over time.

03

Natural Appearance

Our philosophy avoids the operated, pinched look. The goal is a nose that looks like it was always yours — just the best version of it.

04

Dual Approach Options

We select between open and closed technique based on your anatomy and goals — ensuring the most precise, appropriate approach for your specific case.

05

Functional Improvement

Beyond aesthetics, rhinoplasty can improve nasal breathing and airway function — combining form and function in a single, transformative procedure.

06

Facial Harmony

The nose is the centerpiece of the face. Refining it in balance with your eyes, lips, and chin creates an overall harmony that elevates every feature.

FAQs

Common
Questions

Have a question not answered here? Bring it to your consultation — our surgeons take the time to answer everything, thoroughly and honestly.

Am I a good candidate for primary rhinoplasty? +

Good candidates are adults (typically 18+) who are unhappy with the shape, size, or proportion of their nose — whether from aesthetic concerns, breathing difficulties, or both. You should be in good general health, a non-smoker, and have realistic expectations. A private consultation is the only way to properly assess your candidacy.

What is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty? +

In open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils), allowing full exposure of the nasal framework for maximum precision. In closed (endonasal) rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nostrils with no external scarring. We select the approach based on the complexity of your case and what will best achieve your goals.

How long does swelling last after rhinoplasty? +

Most visible swelling resolves within 3 to 4 weeks. However, the nose continues to refine gradually — subtle swelling, especially at the tip, can take up to 12 months to fully resolve. The final result is typically visible at around one year post-surgery. This gradual process is completely normal and expected.

Will rhinoplasty affect my breathing? +

In many cases, rhinoplasty can actually improve breathing — especially when a deviated septum or structural narrowing is corrected at the same time. Our surgeons carefully assess nasal function and airway in every consultation to ensure that aesthetic refinements do not compromise — and where possible enhance — breathing.

Are the results of rhinoplasty permanent? +

Yes. Rhinoplasty reshapes the cartilage and bone structure of the nose — these changes are permanent. While some very minor changes can occur with age over decades, the core results of your rhinoplasty will remain throughout your lifetime.

Will the scar be visible after open rhinoplasty? +

The columellar incision used in open rhinoplasty is placed in a natural crease and heals to a very fine, barely perceptible line. Within several months, the scar is virtually invisible in normal conversation or photos. Our surgeons take great care with incision placement and closure to minimize any trace.
